This piece was done in one of my high school art classes in 2022. The challenge was to choose an object and draw it either very small or very large. I knew that I wanted to create something that pointed to Jesus, so I chose the object of a crown. This was the first project that I chose to really step outside of my comfort zone; it is the biggest piece I have created so far. I wanted to evoke passion and make the audience feel seen so I only did half of Jesus's face, and tried to connect as much emotion and depth as I could in His eyes. I also added thorns to the crown.
I do see a lot of room for improvement perspective wise. I would also love to add more detail and cover the graphite with charcoal to create darker lines.
